As Nigerians, we congratulate the Muslims in the nation on their successful completion of the Ramadan fast in 2016. However, we are disturbed by the apparent shoddiness and confusion the Federal Government brought into the declaration of the Public Holiday rounding up the Muslim religious exercise.


Justice Falola’s judgment distorts the principle behind introduction of uniforms in schools
 
The proactive measures taken by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Osun State to stem the looming crisis over the accepted uniform in the secondary schools is commendable. Justice Jide Falola of the state high court had ruled that wearing of hijab to school is a fundamental right of Muslim students.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)  rose from its general election on Wednesday 15th May 2016 to condemn in strong terms the Grazing Reserve Bill where about N1 billion has been earmarked for the project, calling on the federal government, particularly, the presidency and National Assembly to suspend the proposed bill as it portend gave danger to the nation’s unity.

President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Supo Ayokunle, has emerged the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Ayokunle defeated Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) with 57 votes to 28.

The outgoing president of the body, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, announced the result at 2:30pm to a rousing applause at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja
